WiTT K-12 Teach Grant Application

DESCRIPTION
WiTT has committed up to $10,000 annually toward the WiTT K-12 Teacher Grant. The grant is designed to support Middle Tennessee K-12 teachers who are applying innovative ideas in the classroom that foster interest in technology and technology careers. Through this program, K-12 teachers in Middle Tennessee may submit requests for funding which will be reviewed by the WiTT Scholarship Committee quarterly. These requests may be large or small and can include (but are not limited to):
  • Training, or certifications that improve the teacher’s technical acumen
  • Conference registration (and/or associated conference costs) where teachers can gain training on new technology or innovative curricular methods to apply and promote technology within the classroom
  • Purchasing of classroom supplies, such as Raspberry Pi computers, Dot & Dash robots, MakerSpace materials, or software
  • In-classroom initiatives with the aim of increasing student exposure to careers in technology
  • Other classroom needs or professional development activities that would increase students’ exposure to technology and technology careers

CRITERIA
To be considered for the program, applicants must be:
  • A K-12 Teacher in a Middle Tennessee school (public, or private, charter, or religious)
    • While any K-12 teacher can apply for this grant, preference will be given to teachers who are pursuing classroom funding or a professional development activity related to applying and/or promoting technology and technology careers within the classroom
    • Applicants should proceed with the knowledge and support of their principal/head of school

APPLICATION MATERIALS
Applicants will need to submit the following materials in order to be considered:
  • A completed application
  • A brief write-up (no more than 250 words) on the anticipated benefit, outcome, and impact the request will have on you and your students. If applicable, please include how this grant will assist in applying and/or promoting technology and technology careers within the classroom.
  • Any additional supporting documentation (e.g. conference agenda, certification details, course overviews, classroom supply/product information, budget proposal, project timelines, letters of recommendation or resume, documentation of need, etc.)

TO APPLY
Please complete the application below and upload the requested documents. The deadline for submitting materials for consideration are as follows:
  • Q1 Deadline: March 31 (Awarded in April)
  • Q2 Deadline: June 30 (Awarded in July)
  • Q3 Deadline: September 30 (Awarded in October)
  • Q4 Deadline: November 30 (Awarded in December)

Submissions received after a deadline will automatically be considered for the next round. Awards will be made based upon a combination of fund availability and the Scholarship Committee’s assessment of the merit of the request. The amount of the grant awarded is at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee; the committee can choose to split up funding to support multiple qualified applicants per quarter. Grant recipients can have no more than one request funded per calendar year. Preference will be given to applicants and/or schools who have not previously received funding through this grant program. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
